Senior Secondary

At HBSS Year 10, 11 & 12 students work across a range of programs to ensure they achieve the best possible outcomes in relation to their SET Plan goals.  Programs are based both within the school and community settings, ensuring a smooth transition from school to adult life.  Students participate in community

work experience (with a number of students also working in traineeships) or school based work experience programs.   Highly skilled teachers and teacher aides are committed to delivering high quality programs to ensure senior students are resilient, confident and independent learners ready for the next stage in their life.

Work Experience

Hervey Bay Special School offers a variety of school based and community based work experience programs which are designed to support and embrace individual student needs and independence. HBSS values the real life experiences these programs provide.

Students have the opportunity to gain a certificate whilst working collaboratively with EPIC employment and the organisation where employment is obtained. EPIC Employment also provides our students’ access to the “Ticket to work program”. This program provides students with the necessary skills required when seeking employments such as resume writing, work readiness and personal appearance.
