Students enjoy Chris Collin's Funky Chicken story

On Tuesday 12th June Chis Collin came to visit our school. Chris is a local author and has published a beautiful picture book called  “Funky Chicken. A bushy Tale of Crocs and Chooks.”  The book is written in rhyme and tells the story of how many years ago the animals gathered to vote which animal was most unique. It turns out the animal voted the most unique was rare Funky Chicken, with a very odd call. Then….he has a run in with Crocodile! We can’t tell you what happens…you will have to read the book yourself!
Chris brought along puppets of some of the characters in the book. The students watched a reading on the whiteboard and also participated in the Funky Chicken song and dance. It was loads of fun and the students laughter showed their delight in this wonderful story and presentation.
The students returned to class very excited about the presentation and were motivated to write, draw and do some art work all about funky chicken and his animal friends!! Below are lots of photos of some of the work students across the school did following the visit from Chris.
Here is what the students from Group 8 had to say:
Tanisha: I liked the puppets best, grey Possum and red Funky Chicken. It was funny. The grey possum was so cute.
B.T: I liked the man named Chris doing the Funky Chicken dance.
