Canoeing on senior camp
Canoeing on senior camp

The senior camp at Mapleton was a great success! We had the bus all packed up and we were on our way to QCCC at Mapleton at 9.30 am. The first stop was at Gympie for morning tea, then back in the bus headed for the ginger factory. We all enjoyed looking at the many things there. A favourite was the chocolate factory and the old car shop. We got to taste some yummy chocolate as we watched them making and decorating some incredible ladies stiletto shoes in chocolate!

Back on the bus and we headed for lunch at Maroochydore, before getting to Mapleton campsite. It was certainly chilly in the ranges with the temperature getting down to 14 C and showers. Our cabins were great and when we had unpacked, we went exploring. Swimming, canoeing, basketball courts and tennis courts were all put on the list for tomorrow.

Wednesday we had a day in Maroochydore, shopping at Sunshine Plaza, then lunch at Sizzlers, we finished off the day with a funny movie 'Johnny English Returns' at the cinemas. What a great day! The next day, Thursday, we were up bright and early and after breakfast were off to Aussie World.  Everyone had a fantastic day, Ricky J braved the Mighty Mouse, Brendon spent most of his time on the dodgems, Lucy just wanted to go on all the rides and Cheree loved the ferris wheel! After lunch we headed back to Mapleton where they all decided to swim, canoe, play a game of tennis and relax.

Friday, our last day. Everyone was up early and after breakfast we were off. We stopped at Gympie Centro for a look at the shops, then stopped for morning tea at the Bird Park.  Maryborough was our next stop and everyone worked off their energy at Ululah Park. Lunch at Hungry Jacks and back to school.

Both Norma and Teresa are so proud of our seniors, it was so good to see them being independent and very responsible. Thanks to Norma for all her hard work! The students that did not go to camp had an enjoyable week completing work experience. It was good to hear such positive comments from everyone, well done.
