Morning tea for playground volunteers

On Friday, Group 15 hosted a morning tea to thank the people in the Community who have contributed to the Junior Playground makeover.
Sally and Irene welcomed, the Mayor-Mick Kruger, Andrew Pyne-Dulux Account Manager, Dave Kalbfell –President of the Hervey Bay Bird Club, Karen O’Connor-Secretary of the school P and C Committee and Marnie Rixon-acting principal, for a coffee and some cake to have a look at the progress so far and discuss plans for the completion of the project.
This year several wonderful improvements have been made including the replacement of rotting lattice with hardwood slates in the undercover area and new shade cloth over the sandpit thanks to a donation from the Bird Club. We received a new well designed and constructed sandpit courtesy of the Fraser Coast Regional Council. The undercover structure has been painted in bold primary colours thanks to a donation of paint from our local Dulux representative, Andrew. We are now awaiting the result of a grant submission for ground cover. Shade structures will be put up early in the New Year. When all is completed Dulux will provide the non slip concrete paint to finish off the project. Do come and have a look at what has been achieved so far. We think it looks terrific.
