Group 7 and 12 camp

Finally… the day arrived!  The much anticipated camp for groups 7 and 12!  We have been talking about this camp all year.  We left school at 9.15 on Wednesday November 30th packed into 2 school buses. Waving goodbye to our parents we headed South to the beautiful Tin Can Bay. Our destination was Cathy House where we bunkered down for the night.  What a fabulous place to stay. Cathy House provided everything we needed. A huge lounge and dining area with DVD and Wii for entertainment at night,  a lovely pool to cool off in during the day and dormitory style accommodation. Cathy House is close to parks and the famous dolphin feeding site in Tin Can Bay!   The food was great … not a complaint to be heard!
On Thursday we were up early for breakfast. We got away by 7.45 a.m. (grumble, grumble for some of the staff! But not for long) We hit the road and took off for Australia Zoo. WOW!!!!!   It was a HUGE day! We saw almost everything at the  zoo…we think!
It was Robert Irwin’s 8th birthday so we were very lucky that Bob, Bindy and Terry were at the Zoo and performed at the Crocoseum!  As it is nearly Christmas we also saw SANTA who was being taught how to feed the crocs mmmmm…not a good idea!
We all got to  feed the elephants by hand  which was hugely exciting for every student. We also fed kangaroos, saw animals from Africa and……….got DRENCHED in a torrential downpour of rain (typical Sunshine Coast) just before we left the zoo.  Soaked and exhausted we boarded the bus and headed back to school ……through more torrential rain. The unexpected weather meant we were quite late  arriving  for our parents to pick us up and we thank them for their patience!
